With an aging mother living more than an hour away, the W family was concerned about her safety and their peace of mind. They wanted a nearby, accessible home where she could live independently while staying close to family. Ink Works Studio designed a compact, one-level accessory dwelling on the family farm featuring wide doorways, minimal thresholds, and radiant heating in the kitchen and baths. A covered patio and large sliding doors connect every room to the outdoors, expanding the living space and enhancing natural light. Completed in 2024 by Sam’s Brothers Inc., the new home provides safety, comfort, and connection—allowing Mom to live independently while the family enjoys the reassurance that she’s close by and well cared for.
